inspiration: troy jensen makeup

fkgkgk
troy jensen is a california-based makeup artist who captured my attention lately. I'd describe his signature look as flawless, glowy skin, lush lashes, perfectly defined features and either statement eyes or lips. goddess look! he knows where to use unexpected color pops and shimmer in the right dose and make it surprising yet wearable and always really classy. sultry, warm, breathtaking.

he's also one of kim kardashian's best pals & the name behind her famous posh cali girl glow. as a makeup devotee, I can say that, like her or not, kim always has amazing makeup.

troy's blog is amazing, hands down. it's updated pretty often, and he posts photos of his works, so you can follow his latest creations. the coolest thing is; he describes what he's used and done on the model, step by step, which is really helpful. also, he talks about his inspirations. it lets you to take a look at the artist's mind.

here's some of my favorite looks created by him:

rachel mcadams

megan fox

haley bennett

sofia vergara

riley keough

kim kardashian

malika haqq

karolina kurkova

hmmm... some girls....

and, last but not least, here's to you one gorgeous shot of the artist himself:

inspiration: bobbi brown looks

oh, how I love bobbi brown. she's the gandhi of the makeup industry for me.
over the past couple of years, she has proved the world that nude makeup doesn't have to be boring or à la return of the living dead. I think bobbi observes the different bone structures, colors and textures in women's faces very carefully. and the best part is; unlike many other industry professionals, doesn't try to fight them. instead, she takes them as her major source of inspiration. she doesn't try to teach you what's wrong with your face and how to fix it... now this is revolutionary. personally, I believe every woman will feel much better about their looks when they adopt a bobbi brown kind of approach to makeup.

every new look she comes up with is a major inspiration for me, so always I try to follow what she's been up to lately.

here are some of my favorites amongst her collection looks:

extreme party mascara, winter 2009

chrome, holiday 2009

nudes, fall 2009

trend alert: green smokey

Dramatic eyes in forest colors such as rich brown, taupe gray, burgundy, plum, golden, deep green are big this fall.
Amongst all these, green smokey particularly grabbed my attention.  It's a refreshing alternative to classic black smokey, it's easier to wear, and it's such a pretty color choice for fall!

As I mentioned in my Ivy League post, Bobbi Brown went for a pearly, moderate muted deep olive/ivy green smokey eye look with subtle glossy nude lips in this fall's Ivy League collection. Instyle named teal smokey (which has been on the spotlight since Gucci's S/S 2009 show) "this season's version of classic smokey eye". Kim Kardashian recently rocked a leaf green, retro style smokey. Teal or green smokey is a must-do this season.

If you don't feel brave enough to wear green shadow directly, go for a more subtle look: brush on a taupe or brown shadow with green/teal pearl in it, such as MAC Club or Too Faced Label Whore. If you use a darker cream eyeshadow as base, the green pearl will show up better.

For a more dramatic, rock star-like look, use matte black cream or powder eyeshadow on lids and smudge till the brow bone. Then, press green shimmery powder (MAC Pigment in Antique Gold for a warmer look, or Teal for a cooler one) onto lids with your finger. Apply the same powder more intensively to the inner rims of your eyes.

I feel like Teal goes well with peachy pink lips & cheeks, while warmer tones, such as hunter green, tend to look better with toffee-nudes or tawny-nudes. This season's pearly greens pair best with glossy but not shimmery lips.
