50 celebrity dates challenge

I recently discovered the group "50 celebrity dates challenge" on polyvore, where you basically try to complete 50 sets based on imaginary dates with different celebrities. my two favorite things in life -fashion and celebrity crushes- come together... and polyvore is probably the third. naturally, I didn't hesitate one second to jump on the board.
so far I have completed three, with James Dean, Morrissey and Gaspard Ulliel. see them below, more to come for sure!

James Dean is not dead, at least for me. I wanted to make it retro and classy with a rebel, distressed twist, just like JD himself.

this "date" is why I often get depressed about not living in the Manchester of early 80's. I was mainly inspired by the iconic oldschool Smiths images and the way Morrissey dressed at that time, with my own "contemporary" touches here and there.

he's my ultimate french hearttrob! I imagine him to be a ridiculously fun person, and here's what I came up with according to that impression. btw; I somehow got the very unrealistic expectation that I'll be surrounded by men who look like this in my exchange semester in Paris next year. probably not, but I'd like to think that way.

here's what grabbed my attention this month in the sartorialist, possibly the best fashion blog of all times:

yes, androgyny can be so attractive.

she's too cute to be true. her outfit has just the right amount of androgyny and toughness to balance her pixie-ness.

I love everything about this stylish milanese gang. I even go as far as declaring I want to be one of them. girls, take me in!

my mom always says tall men shouldn't wear long coats, for it makes them look even taller. I love this look for the exact same reason... seems you don't always grow up to become your mother. good work with colors, aswell. such a new yorker.

the sartorialist called this brazilian "my new fashion star". I love her daring, frisky, sunlit style.

and finally, the sartorialist himself in place vendome, paris. he always reminds me of classic-era actors.

sartorialist for burberry: art of the trench

facebook is getting old. so is twitter.
burberry started a new phase in social networking world: art of the trench.
it's basically a website full of photos of many different people wearing burberry trench coats & info about trench.
you can filter the photos by gender, trench color, styling, even weather, learn more about the history of trench coats, load your own photos with your trench, comment on photos, and some other cool things.

some cool the kooks pieces, all played acoustic, are on the background. could it be better?

as if it's not cool enough, burberry has commisioned scott schuman (the sartorialist) to go around the world and picture people with their burberry trench coats. he came up with brilliant photos that fills my heart with joy of trench, of course.

 

I'm a big-time trench coat fan. I can't even remember what I wore during the 3/4 of the year before I purchased one. the item just has a life, a stand of its own.

I often play up the classic and clear-cut, but still kinda sorta scruffy  feeling trench coats give to me. cuffed, light wash torn boyfriend jeans worn with a fitting "audrey" stripey top and loafers or brogues does the job.

 pairing the trench with chunky heels and a short dress is one of my favorites. this formula just works like magic for some reason. it's such a cool high-low mix.

sartorialist favorites - part I

seriously, is there anyone not obsessed with the sartorialist?

this blog makes me feel that we live in a beautiful world and fills my mind with inspiration and joy of dressing up everytime I take a look at it. scott schuman (aka the sartorialist) is so good at capturing the wonderfulness of street style. I want to share with you guys some of my favorite sartorialist looks lately:

oh, such a poetic look this young man has. he has a very -effortless-gothic feeling to me: the dramatic contrast between the milky skin and flame-red hair, the dramatic, severe, strong expression on his face, and of course; the colours and materials of his blazer and scarf. shoes make a beautiful addition and balance it out perfectly.

I am quite convinced that she's a fairytale princess... the tale takes place in 21st century milano. oh, seriously, could she look any nicer? what I most love about this look is that it's not very matchy-matchy. every single piece has a life of its own, yet they complement each other flawlessly. so perfectly put together. the pumps & the skirt are so cinderella aren't they? and of course, I should mention, the perfect accesory to every outfit; a pair of endless, killer legs.

this one pretty much defines male attractiveness to me... if you cover the pack of cigarettes on his hand.

 oh, so well-tailored, so clean I swear I can even smell his aftershave & soap from the photo. I truly admire people who can understand and apply basics of clothing so well, and I must admit that I have a really soft spot for men wearing blue oxford shirts, too. always extra points for cuffed sleeves.

we must all thank this young lady for sporting some of season's major trends in such a genuine, fresh, personalized way. I love the bohemian feeling of the olive/bronze biker jacket, and it's quite refreshing to see one in a color other than black (readers, take note!) and it complements her olive skin tone in such a beautiful way.
 when it comes to shoes, cuffed boyfriend jeans can be tough to combine. the combo with these shoes seem to have the proportion just right.
