a fine romance.

how can you tell they're really made for each other? by their clothes, of course. I adore both of these couples, the first from florence and the second from ny. let's hope they'll have kids together and spread more stylishness to the world.

topshop picks

I'm having a mini topshop craze at the moment, as you can see. tonight I feel like listing my favorites- it must be some sort of mental masturbation I think.

everytime I come across topshop, I go in and try these shoes on. seriously. I feel like a smart grace kelly with them on. so perfect it's ridiculous.

I gotta get you in my life, babe.

the original school satchel. simply amazing.

it's camel, it' duffle, it's cute.

winter uniform material alert.

this is the aran cardigan I've been looking for all over ireland- the color, the pattern, the buttons. and ironically, I finally found it on topshop.

I'd wear this cropped denim jacket with a band t-shirt, cigarette pants and ballet flats for a fifties-inspired look with a rebel twist, like in isabel marant f/w 2010

camel lessons from fall runway

it's finally september and for the first time in monts I got cold today, which should give me enough excuse to do more fall posts.
I've been collecting tips on how to use camel from f/w runway shows. here you have some. enjoy!
1. to add an edge; complete a soft, feminine all-camel ensemble with a denim shirt.

learn from:
chloé

and me, of course. my way:
chloe fall

2. combine camel with gray and tomboy/menswear inspired items for a super-cool schoolgirl finish.

learn from:
dkny
3.1 philip lim
dries van noten
hussein chalayan

my way:
camel and gray

3. keep the retro vibe alive by combining camel with shades of navy, jade, citrus and burnt orange.

learn from:
marni
rochas

my way:
camel with a dash of color

Saturday, August 28

I live for moments like this.

today I stumbled upon this shoot of  vivianna volpicella, vogue japan's assistant fashion editor, by jak and jil's tommy ton. divine? better than that.

Thursday, August 26

camel it is.

this editorial on Vogue UK's august issue made me see this fall's it-color camel in a whole new light.
time to belt up, accesorize comme des garçons, consider different hues and have some fun with wintery textures. oh, this whole camel coat thing makes me pray for some cold weather asap.

they're so worth to click on to view the full size.

thanks fearless123  from TFS for the scans!

forgive me father for I have sinned.

I can't really tell olsen twins apart... and I think I'm pretty okay with that.

christian dior

Christian Dior,
you wasted your life
on grandeur and style
and making the poor rich smile.
you could have run wild
on the backstreets of Lyon or Marseille
reckless and legless and stoned
impregnating women
or kissing mad street boys from Napoli
who couldn't even write their own name.

meat is murder

as if she's not cool enough, I came across this shoot of alexa chung, wearing a meat is murder t-shirt in the coolest way possible.

then found this one- the same shirt, worn in the second coolest way possible. what's with me and alexa nowadays?

leopard print: it's not what you think.

alexa chung is the cover girl l'officiel's august issue, paying homage to sixties, and with all her feline charm, to leopard prints.

what strikes me the most in this shoot is the use of leopard print. interpreted in the most unusual way; I'm amazed how leopard print gives here a very different feeling than what we're used to: retro, childlike and yes, feminine and wild but in a pristine way. apparently, it can look very cute indeed when used on the right pieces- as alexa demonstrates perfectly with the loose, girly dress and the manly hat.

this adorable new approach is a good opportunity to get over the leopard prejudice, or even phobia. that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

checking out some of her outfits from the past, I realized she does this whole leopard thing so well, in her lovely wild-granny-goes-back-to-school way.

(bonus: lovely sienna miller, also wearing leopard. not too fond of leopard jeans myself)
here are a couple looks I put together with this on mind:

cropped jeans, a boatneck and too-cute-to-be-true leopard flats- voila, you're audrey hepburn. plus, shoes are always a good place to start from.

leopard flats

show your wild side with just a dash of leopard print. you can tone it down with loose, slouchy elements.

scratch my name on your arm with a fountain pen (this means you really love me)

it hasn't always been this way, but the idea of getting a tattoo has been growing on me, immensely.
particularly (or maybe even solely) tattoos consisting of words- it marks your identity and existence as an intellectual being, they will be there to remind you what you want to remember, day and night, and I'm absolutely in love with the possibility of being attached to some particular words so strongly that you want to carry them on your body forever and ever. and yes, there are a couple I can think of as being in that position for me.

I recently discovered a blog called tattoologist and it must be the most amazing resource for tatto inspiration- here are some examples that struck me.

do you have any tattoos at the moment, or planning to get any?
